App World install via USB hangs on Step 3 with my 8220

after:

 

1. Get the BlackBerry App World Browser Plug-in
You have installed the BlackBerry App World Browser Plug-in on this computer.



2. Connect your smartphone
Your BlackBerry smartphone is connected to your computer. Do not disconnect.
 



hangs on...

 

3. Update your software

You need the latest version of BlackBerry App World installed on your smartphone to continue.
Download
* Please do not navigate away from this page or disconnect your smartphone while BlackBerry App World is installing.



What's going on????

What web browser are you using for this? 

Do you have an active BlackBerry Data plan?

Do you have an older version of App World on your BlackBerry? If so, under Options>Applications, what is that version?

For how long does the loading message remain on your computer?

I have the same problem.

 

What web browser are you using for this? Firefox 6.0

Do you have an active BlackBerry Data plan? No

Do you have an older version of App World on your BlackBerry? If so, under Options>Applications, what is that version? 1.1.0.35

For how long does the loading message remain on your computer? For more than 5mins.

Hello AkkardoX,

 

You need an active BlackBerry data plan to use BlackBerry App World.

 

Since you currently do not have an active plan, you will not be able to update your application.

 

You can contact your mobile carrier for more information on what data plans would include App World usage. Once in place, you should be able to get App World to update either using your mobile browser or using the USB cord on your computer.

Hi,

 

I have the BB 299 Plan activated my #. I have a Vodafone connection. Using IE 8 as my web browser. I am also facing the same issue. I have a BB 8520

 

Please help..

i have a blackberry curve 8500 and the exact same problem has happened to me, my phone screen is now black and not doing anything though step 3 is still apparantly loading, im too scared to disconnect my phone usb incase my blackberry breaks what shall i do

Thanks for this info.  This is very frustrating.  I have just wasted two hours of my life trying to work out what is going wrong.  Why doesn't the website come up with an error message, preferably one which says you need a Blackberry data plan to use this facility????
