Application Permission for ColorID makes my phone crash - BB Curve

Ive recently downloaded the update for ColorID to my BB Curve, it asked me to reboot my BB as normal. Once my home screen appears the "Application Permission" question pops up, but then my phone crashes and I am unable to do anything with my phone. I have repeatedly pull the battery out and switched it back on but the same thing happens, I have also left it on for about an hour, but its still stuck on the question and will do nothing..What do I do?? Smiley Sad

Re: Application Permission for ColorID makes my phone crash - BB Curve

Just to note, I've also tried pluging it into my computer but the Blackberry software just sits there trying to connect to the phone. Was going to attempt a backup and install of the OS but I simply cant get pass this permission thing.

Re: Application Permission for ColorID makes my phone crash - BB Curve

I'm having the same issue with my BB tour.  Loaded this new APP this morning and now there is a massage reading "App. Permissions" and my phone is locked from moving forward.  How can we resolve this?  Man Sad

Re: Application Permission for ColorID makes my phone crash - BB Curve

I had exactly the same problem.  I found this link : http://www.berryreview.com/2009/04/24/faq-start-your-blackberry-in-safe-mode-os-46-only/ which show show to start a blackberry in safe mode (take out the battery, then hold the escape key, put the battery back, and hold the escape key until it finishes booting);

For me that worked great.  I had control back of my device.  I was going to install colorid, but instead it ran it in safe mode.  I was able to confirm the permissions with no problem.  I then rebooted normally, and it is working fine.

Hope it works for you as well.

Awsome find Sox!

THANK YOU!

Just to recap. I took the battery out, held the esc key put the battery back in while still holding the key until the phone finished booting. (had a sore thumb, these curves take 4 to 5 minutes to boot)

Was able to get to applications and uninstall that color ID. Awsome!

I called the tech support they didnt even have a clue about how to do this. They kept trying to get me to get it too connect to the laptop. I then went to my us cellular store and those 'expert phone specialist' didnt have a clue either. I ended up getting a loaner phone, guess I can give it back in the morning.

Again thanks Sox, m wife also thanks you shes lost without her crackberry.

P.S.

Dont even bother with that colorID thing it does other things as well. Drops calls or simply puts your phone in a continuous reboot stage.

Hello,

This is Motek Mobile Support. We are the developers of Color ID. We have own own support forum at the following link that deals with issues with our products:

Motek on GetSatisfaction

As sox44 pointed out - booting in safe mode allows you to address this specific problem on your device. (This issue applies to a specific device model/ BlackBerry operating system/cell carrier combo). If anyone else happens to have this same issue - can you please let us know which specific BlackBerry model you are using and which version of the BlackBerry Operating System you have installed on your device. Also - let us know who your cell carrier is as well. We can be reached through email at support@motekmobile.com

Thanks,
