Auto Dial Issue - BB Bold 9900 Software 7.1.0 Bundle 2108

My BB Bold 9900 dials number automatically when I am on call. This  is creating lot of issue as this auto call put my existing call on hold.

I have replaced my device with anothe new one but issue does not resolve.

This device was taken from Rogers.

I have tried security wipe and then loaded my contacts only from my previous device but still the problem persist.

Anybody else has encontered this issue ? Please let me know the solution.

When you place the 9900 to your ear, make sure you place it in a way that the top edge of the 9900 touches your ear first, and then flat against the ear.

 

I've seen the same issue, and usually it is because the device itself has not detected the ear or face and locked the screen. Alternatively you can use a third party app such the link below to lock the device screen while in a phone call.

but then that's not exactly how we use the phone all the time - is it?

i feel there is a problem with the proximity sensors of the phone. wonder why since even the dirt cheap chinese phones have somehow managed not to have that kind of a silly problem.

 

do the designers and senior analysist and researchers and who's who of blackberry actually use these phones before launching them in the market ?

have downloaded the s/w you recommended - let's see how that performs.

why can't blackberry give it in a bundle with it's new update?

Does it means that BB 9900 auto dials some random number if it has not detected ear and put existing call on hold ?

Yup, that's happened to me. Or placed a second call  while on an existing call.

Thanks. Looks like your solution is working, I am keeping my phone touching my ears.
