Hello Pvee and welcome to the forums!
It sounds like an issue with the OS on the device, even if you are up to date there could still be something corrupt in the software I would suggest reloading the software using the link below.

About three weeks ago I turned off WiFI and it has not failed one time since then.
I did not reload the software yet.
If this works I can get by without WiFi turned on.
