Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

I think this how RIM work, "always buy our new device to get latest OS and put your old device in the garbage, New OS = New Device"

Never ever think you can update to the new release OS with your old device.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

There will offcourse a OS7 LEAKED version for the torch1(9800)

Like they leaked the OS6 of the bold 9780 for the bold 9700.. both same resolution and thats also exact the same for the torch 9800 and the torch 9810..

so i know that soon someone will leak it and place it on the forum Smiley Happy

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

OS7 on 9800? I don't think any RIM employee ever worked on it. There are hardware requirements that are not fulfilled by the 9800. So if I ever saw an OS7 labeled "leak for 9800", I would really not trust the sharer.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

Good point @xandrex. Be very very wary re any "leaked" OS7. As you ppint out there may be hardware conflicts - which, by the way, could have been resolved at development level.

Actually, not really. An OS7 release for an OS7 device... I'd load it.

I've been installing leaked operating systems for hears, no issues. All OSs are developed and tested by RIM and are only leaked once they hit the distribution to the carriers for further testing and certification. There are occasional conflict with third party apps, but rarely hardware conflicts and such.

As Xandrex said, if you found an OS7 leak for a 9800 device, it's not a RIM OS.

Re: BB OS 7 on Torch?

After reading this thread I've decided to get off the BB train at the next station.

You see, I paid $199.99 last December 20th for my 4th BB upgrade (that's 5 BlackBerrys I've purchased for myself over the past 8 years).  Now I have a Torch 9800, 9 months old that BB says they won';t support/

I read here that "technology moves on" and the days of customer service are gone at BB.  OK.  I get it.  I just checked online with good old AT&T (NOT, but that's off topic) and they want $400 to switch me to a Droid or I Phone.  So I'll wait; but rest assured, I'm gone and won't be looking back.

PS, I'm the last BB user in an office of 30 FTE's.
