BB Torch 9800 restart continuously

My son download game Ace Archer from BB World yesterday and during restart, BB has trouble completing restart and now reboot continuously. BB was working functioning before download of game. Tried hard reboot, tried taking out SIM and media card and just boot with battery. Tried different battery to no avail. Does any one has suggestions as to what to do other than taking to a repair shop?

Probably it has gone into the reboot loop. You have to reinstall the device software and the best way is by using the DM software ( Desktop Manager Software). You can download the DM and later also download the BB OS 6 which is available by your carrier. Try searching how to reinstall device software.

Actually, you might be able to recover this without the drastic recommendation above. I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, remove the offending app:

  • KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone

Only in cases where the app has caused OS-level corruption should a full OS reload be required...but if it's merely a badly behaving app, Safe Mode should allow you to remove it.

thanks for your response. The safe mode suggestion worked and deleted the bad app. Avoid the need to reload the OS.
