BB9900 battery drains extremely fast

Hi. I have used my BB900 about 2 years, until last June 2013 it works perfectly..Early July 2013, my BB9900 has started to kill me, its battery drains very fast (almost within 4h or 5h).

After researching throughout the internet, I know that this issue has occurred since 2011, and many people around the world upset about this fault.

I'm not sure if there is any solution now? Please help me....

My current software is 7.0.0 Bundle 2392

all email inbox deleted, nothing running, only wifi.

Thanks

Tuan

Re: BB9900 battery drains extremely fast

Hi! Welcome to the forums.

I suggest if you have access to the same battery try it plugging to your device. You're battery may be too old to perform all this task.

Also update your OS. Check for your carrier here and download the latest (the topmost)

Good luck. Keep us posted Smiley Happy

Re: BB9900 battery drains extremely fast

Hi Mondi21.

I did buy a new battery from BB store in Vietnam (dauden.vn) last 2 weeks, and the situation has not been solved. I have to change the battery offen!!

I will try to update OS as your suggestion. (Vinaphone - Vietnam)

Thanks

Tuan

Re: BB9900 battery drains extremely fast

Yes, I suggest do a back-up first and install the latest OS for your device (from your carrier). After the install is complete give it 1-2 days for it to fully get synced.

Keep us posted. Smiley Happy

Since it's unlocked use Vinaphone.

Re: BB9900 battery drains extremely fast

After you install that OS.

Follow this KB on how to update the software on your device.

Good luck.

[ Edited ]

In addition...you can install any carriers OS package, as long as you do the proper tricks (delete the VENDOR.XML files from your PC). However, to obtain specific languages, this KB also applies to guide you to selecting the appropriate OS package to install:

  • KB05305 Localization support for BlackBerry smartphones

Good luck!

Yes -- what you seem to be doing is the "automatic" update method, offers for which are controlled by your carrier...if they have no update available, then you cannot use the automatic method. Rather, you need to use the manual method and take control. The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):

1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.

2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages

3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

  • It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
  • Be sure that you take into account the localization KB I provided above as you choose OS packages to use

5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.

6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:

If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.

Good luck and let us know!
