as the title states, i have two BB phones (9790 and 8...) and all of them are recognized by WINDOWS and even in the BB Device Manager either on USB or bluetooth. But the f... BB Desktop Manager keeps displaying CONNECTING (right bottom corner) once I start the application and plut in any smartphone.
Even the message box asking for the password pops up at the pc and the device display shows the connected to device manager screen but the DM itself keeps trying. Due to above no backup or any other functions are available.
I spend already many days on it, found many posts stating exact same issue with all kind of BB models plus some ideas how to fix it.
I made a clean unistall even deleted entries at the registry after the so called clean unistall etc. One of the phones always has the exclamation mark on yellow ground, stating that there is some driver missing. I tried to fix it by installing thie RIM Virtual Device... and the exlamation mark disappears but the phone still does not finally connect with the application.
Am I too stupid to find a obvious solution or does BB not really care such minor thing?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
or does BB not really care such minor thing?
No one here, in this user-to-user community of volunteers, can truly know what BlackBerry cares about and what they do not care about.
Now, as to your issue...here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:
Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
Hopefully something there is helpful!
