BBLaunchAgent stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU!!!

Hello,

Has anyone noticed the BBLaunchAgent process stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU usage?

Or is my mac the only one? I am using 10.5.8.

I disabled the option to automatically launch BB DM when device is connected. I also tried uninstalling BB DM and reinstalling it again with no luck.

I will really appreciate if anyone can shed a light on this issue.

Thanks a million!

You did not report on what mac you have and what processor?

Mine runs at .1.  It can't be disabled TMK unless you uninstall the app. (regardless of how you set it)

I have a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac Mini with 2 GB of ram running Leopard 10.5.8.

Looks like I have to live with it as long as I want to sync my BB with my mac. LOL.

Re: BBLaunchAgent stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU!!!

Mine is stuck at 0.2 but that is still too much for an app just sitting in the background.

It allways floats around in the top 10 of the memory suckers. Even higher than the Finder and that's running and being used all the time.

I run a new MacBook Pro with 2.53GHz Duo with OSX 10.6.2.

Well, look how long it took them to get the Desktop Manager to even work smoothly. Maybe eventually they'll figure out a way to make BBLaunchAgent sit quietly in the background when it's not being used 99.5% of the time.

I'm sitting here watching Activity Monitor and the Finder, Mail, and the Dock are all sucking less CPU% than BBLA. The only app that's doing worse is RealPlayer's Download Agent. Thank God that BBLA isn't coded worse than that. It's running at a steady 0.5 and that gets used less than than anything else currently running.

Oh well, it's the price we pay. for the Crackberry on a Mac. Smiley Tongue

Re: BBLaunchAgent stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU!!!

Here's how I solved it.

WARNING!!!:  Don't do this if you don't have a clue what I'm talking about in this response.  I purposefully left out the exact keystrokes required.  If you can't follow what I've written, you should NOT be making these changes.  You need a basic technical familiarity with the UNIX OS and its utilities.  As ALWAYS - BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP before making changes like these.

Using the "Terminal" application within the Utilities folder...

Went to the directory:  /Library/LaunchAgents

You will find the file:  com.rim.BBLaunchAgent.plist

Using the native vi editor as root user, opened it and made changes to "OnDemand" set to true and "RunAtLoad" set to false.

You will have to "log out" and "log in" for these changes to take affect.  Killing the BBLaunchAgent process without the log out/in will have no affect, it's already running with the old parameters and the "KeepAlive" will just keep restarting it.  I didn't touch the KeepAlive because I wasn't sure what the affect would be when you have your Blackberry connected.

DISCLAIMER:  At your own risk.  See WARNING above.

Re: BBLaunchAgent stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU!!!

I have BBLaunchAgent.app at 0.5% of CPU or more for each logged in user!

I'm using a MacBook Air so I don't have the CPU to spare.

I've set BlackBerry Desktop Manager pref Automatically Launch to OFF but the Launch Agent still runs.

RIM Must have a lazy programmer.

This is about as bad as iPhoto Faces —I cannot turn that CPU hog off either.

Re: BBLaunchAgent stuck at a constant 0.3% CPU!!!

more detail:

typically 0.6% of CPU with no Blackberry attached

but 2.2% or greater when a blackberry is attached to the MacBook Air USB port.

WTF!

Is there a solution to this problem?

I have the same BBlaunchagent .3 issue.

Running mac os x, version 10.6.4, 2.4ghz intel core 2 duo, macbook

Just added BB desktop manager a few days ago and this problem occurred.

SUper cool tip!

Thx a lot!!!

I did the same to RImAlbumArtCacher.plist which was taking 200mb of RAM!

("OnDemand" set to true and "RunAtLoad" set to false)

This kind of things tell me that BB is not my kind of phone.

It's Bold.
