BBM Not Working after Upgrade to OS 5

I upgraded my Tour's OS to version 5 because after the last time I upgraded App World, the icon disappeared.  After I upgraded to OS5, the App World Icon reappeared, but BlackBerry Messenger stopped working - even after reinstalling the application, battery pulls, reboots, etc.  All I get is an error message about Java when I try to start.

Go to Options > Advanced > Applications and scroll the Messenger application and don't click on it, just scroll to it. Click Menu > Delete and remove the application.

Now, do a reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

Finally, use your BlackBerry browser to go to http://blackberry.com/blackberrymessenger and download/install the Messenger application again.

After installation and possibly another reboot, check your Instant Messaging Folder, or Downloads folder for the application.

Now, try BBMessenger again.

Tried to Download BBM using the browser and through App World - both times I get the error: "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException"

When do you get that error... during the download (you said you "tried" downloading, it did not succeed?) or what? Remember all the details you can.

The error comes up when the download completes. After I select OK, a message tells me the application was successfully downloaded. After I reboot I get that error message when the reboot is complete.
When I attempt to start bbm I also get the error message.

So the error appears:
1. At the end of the download
2. As soon as the device reboots
3. When BBM is launched

After I delete the application, the error message no longer appears after the device reboots.

Can you look at BlackBerry Messenger > Options > press the Menu key > About BlackBerry Messenger and at the top right, what is the verison number you are installing?

As usually after not complete/successful reload OS you can got this problem.

 

Try reload OS with full wipe device by BBSAk - and when restore information to newly reloaded OS device, restore only needed info such as Address Book, SMS, Messages, DO NOT restore Options or other system settings

The version I am trying to install is 5.0.2.12
