Hi and Welcome to the Community!

First question...does BBM work otherwise? As in, when connected to your carrier data network, does BBM work? If not, then getting it to work via WiFi will be pointless...BBM is one of the BB-proprietary services which requires subscription to an adequate data plan, from your mobile network provider.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: BBM do not work with wireless network ??!!

Yes, it works with data plan! The problem is that when I don't have credits, it doesn't work with WIFI.

For example... I have a friend that was traveling abroad, therefore didn't have any data, but he connected on BBM with a WIFI network, and it worked!

Re: BBM do not work with wireless network ??!!

Hmmm...I don't know your data plan, so I'm not sure what "I don't have credits" really means. But, if it means that, in that condition, BBM will not work via the carrier data network at that time, then it won't work via WiFi either. BBM is a BB-proprietary service for paying BB customers only...if your data plan is expired, suspended, or otherwise not working, then the BB-proprietary services will also not work, regardless of your attempted channel of access. Even accessing via WiFi, your data plan must be active with your carrier in order to use the BB-proprietary services.

I can't accurately guess why your friend could use BBM in the situation you described. Maybe he did have credits on his data plan at home, which then allowed BBM to function via WiFi from anywhere. I have no way to know anything about this for sure.

So, basically, I guess my question is this:

1) Can you, right this moment, access BBM via your carrier data network?

2) If so, can you also then, also right this moment, access BBM via WiFi?

If your answer to question 1 is "no", then there should be no expectation for you to access BBM via WiFi.

If the answer to question 1 is "yes", then you should be able to access BBM via WiFi...if you cannot, then we have some further diagnosis to do.

Thanks and let us know!

Re: BBM do not work with wireless network ??!!

Thanks a lot for the explanation!

That's what is happening then...

My data plan works like this:

It's a pre-paid data plan. I pay 1 dollar per day that I use the internet, or any application that uses data. At the moment I don't have any credits, therefore I won't be able to use BBM, even via WIFI.

My friend did have credits in his home country when he accessed the BBM via WIFI while travelling abroad.

Thanks again for clarifying my problem!

You are most welcome...like many things, added and proprietary services are not free.

Good luck!
