BBM doesn't open. At all.

Hey guys, I have a BB Pearl 8120.

Since Sunday, the BBM was acting a little bit strange. It would take almost an hour to send a message in the chat and it was very slow. On Monday morning when I woke up, a message appeared I dont remember well what it said but something about exception and a code. After that I would click on the BBM icon and it wouldn't open.... i re-installed the BBM, i restarted the phone, I checked everything and nothing would make the BBM open!

I don't know if i need to updated the OS because the one I have is v4.5.0.124

 look at Options > Advanced > Applications. Do you see it listed there?

What is the version installed?

v5.0.3.22 is the latest version of BlackBerry Messenger.

 

I would suggest this: Use your BlackBerry Messenger function to backup your contacts you have now, and also, do a complete backup using Desktop manager.

Then, go to Options > Advanced > Applications and scroll the Messenger application and don't click on it, just scroll to it. Click Menu > Delete and remove the application.

Now, do a reboot: With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.

Finally, use your BlackBerry browser to go to http://blackberry.com/messenger and download/install the Messenger application again.

After installation and possibly another reboot, check your Instant Messaging Folder, or Downloads folder for the application.

You can restore your contacts from the BBM v.5 application or from the Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced.
