BBM error caused disaster

I had this error from BBM:

"You are attempting to open a secure connection, but the server's certificate chain is not valid."

I contacted BB help on twiter & they directed me to a link handling this probem. I followed the steps but instead of solving the problem I found that all the data on my mobile was erased!!

I need to retrieve at least the contact list..please help me urgently

Re: BBM error caused disaster

thanks for your reply but unfortunately it doesn't work.

I installed the program but when I choose an option in it it gives "No Items"

I beleive it works if you deleted an item separetly....but whan happened to my phone is appearantly restored to factory setting, but is still have some programs I installed on it before.

Appreciate if you have any other idea...please need help

Re: BBM error caused disaster

If I had a backup there were no problem...unfortunately I had just installed the BB desktop software & started following the steps advised to solve the BBM error without making a backup first

Amalalmeligy, exactly what were those step you were advised to follow, which you believe deleted all those items?

Re: BBM error caused disaster

Download and install the latest BlackBerry Desktop Software
Enable Certificate Management in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager (Select Tools > Desktop options > check Use certificate synchronization > select OK).
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone via USB and if prompted enter the smartphone password and Select OK.
If prompted, select Get started with this device.
Select don't add the account, then set any specific options and select Finish.
Within the menu on the left, select Certificates.
When prompted, type a key store password twice for confirmation and select OK.

Re: BBM error caused disaster

You didn't perform a device wipe first? Sounds like the it happened.

So... moving on -- do you have any previous backup of your device made using the BlackBerry Desktop Software or using BlackBerry Protect?
