BBM: status pending authorisation

I have a bb curve 9320 and I'm on virgin uk, which gives me : 200 mins, 500 texts, 500 mb internet, and blackberry services.

All of that work exept blackberry services, I went on bbm and sent a friend request to a friend using the pin he gave me, its been a couple of days, but at the bottom it has the pin then underneath it says "pending (waitng for authorisation)

I don't know what that means, what can I do, its been about a day and I sent it straight after he texted me it.
