BIS Access via WiFi

With mobile data services and WiFi switched ON I can access the internet and various other services with no problem. Service status shows BIS connecton as WiFi. As soon as my mobile data service is switched off the BIS connection on the service status screen shows Not Connected despite my connection to WiFi still being active. As  I have vey litle mobile data allowance on my account I would rather not keep mobile data switched ON. Is there some setting somewhere to allow BIS connection with only WiFi switched ON?

Re: BIS Access via WiFi

Just had an update from Vodafone who say it is quite normal to need both mobile data and WiFi turned on for BIS services and general internet to be accessible on Blackberry devices. I'm certain that was not the case with my previous Curve 9320 but is now required with my Torch 9800. I'm getting a little confused here so can other Vodafone customers confirm or deny this is the case?
