BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

HELP PLEASE!!!!I

have a new BOLD with software/firmware version 4.6.x, and I am having problems with the Facebook application.

The version which seems to be downloadable via the BlackBerry is Version 1.2.0 (not possble to do thins from the computer)

Installing this version, which appears to work correctly, results in there being no Facebook application icon (on the main screen, or in the applications, or the downloads folder), Also there is a small notifications icon (and number of notifications) permanantly present on the screen, which keeps on increasing.  It appears not possible to delete these notifications using the BlackBerry.

The only way to remove the notifications icon is to uninstall the application, which I have done using the BlackBerry PC Manager.

There is no sensible help from RIM,  but there is a a Tech Notice to say that Firmware Versions >4.5 are not compatible with the installed version of FaceBook, and that users must download the latest version of FaceBook from the internet.  I have been round this loop several times, with no success in getting a properly functional Facebook application on the Blackberry.

On your BB, please look at Options > Advanced > Applications.

Is FaceBook listed there?

Highlight and click on it. What version does it show?

Re: BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

It was Version 1.2.x (1.2.0 I think).  My daughter uses the BlackBerry, and the notification icon which she (and I) could do nothing with, was getting on her nerves.  That's why I uninstalled it - and tried to re-install the version from the web which always appears to be 1.2.0.

OK, so when you get the device back in your hand, let me know the answer.

Re: BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

Hi

I have checked as you asked:  Facebook is listed in the applications list and it is Version 1.2.0

The system software is Version 4.6

Thanks

Rodger

Re: BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

Ok, cool... then it is installed on the device.. somewhere.

Look in ALL folders.

On the homescreen > Menu > SHOW ALL , so that SHOW ALL is check marked.

Look again, in all folders and on the homescreen.

If your notification icon at the top of the screen is receiving increased FB notifications, it is installed on your BlackBerry.

Re: BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

Thanks....once that item was checked:  The Facebook item appeared on the screen with all of the Menu Items?  Do you know if it possible to move it so that it becomes one of the six icons that appears on the Main Front Screen?

Re: BOLD 9000 series and FaceBook Application

Woop! Congrats!

Yes, on the screen with ALL of the icons, scroll over it, don't click it AND choose Menu > Move.

Now move your trackball up and into the position on the TOP TWO rows of icons where you want to place it, AND click to place it.

Done. Now it should appear on the main front screen.
