BOLD 9900 - Can't hear callers when I answer the phone or dial out!!

Argh please help! I bought a 9900 recently and when people call me or I call out, I can't hear them! They can hear me fine when I answer but the line is completely dead - radio silence! Every other sound aspect on the phone is working fine - alarm, BB alerts, ringtones, etc


I took it to a phone shop fo repair yesterdy and they changed the speaker/mic, but to no avail. It still doesn't work. What could be wrong and is this fixable?!

I would suggest to do a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320, please test before restoring any data to the device.

If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)

If the issue still persists after the reload, further investigation might be required. To help further diagnose the cause, contact your wireless service provider or BlackBerry® Technical Support Services for further review and support.

I had this problem twice. First with a 9800, then with a 9760. I tried to reload the telephone software: didn't work. Then I solved the problem by doing something silly: I plugged my headphones to the telephone and made a couple calls switching from headphones to speaker. When I unplugged the headphones it worked. I thought I got lucky the first time but then when it happened the second time it worked for me again. Hope this helps.
