I am using Torch 9810 and I am facing problem during backing up my data through BB Desktop Software.
Backup start smoothly but in the process it stops automatically and its gives Error saying "Cable is not connected Properly or make sure device is switched on".
Same cable works fine while charging or transfering data from phone to pc or pc to phone.
Everything works fine except the backup.
Pls help me on this. Thanks in advance

Actually, I disagree. BB Protect is an excellent tool for unattended OTA backup of certain data...but, look inside of BB Protect to see exactly what it backs up...then compare that to what the Desktop Software backs up. This KB lists the databases that the Desktop Software deals with, and those that BB Protect deals with are definitely a subset of this:
So, my advice is thus:
That way, you have all that you will need should you need to restore. For some restorations, the BB Protect data will be fine...but for others, you will need that which only the Desktop Software provides for.
Now, back to the OPs question...there are a few things to try:
Additionally, here is the list of troubleshooting articles...hopefully something will be useful:
Also, check that you are using only root USB ports...no hubs (sometimes the front-side ports are hubs...use a rear USB port). And make sure to try disabling USB power management in your system configuration (Device Manager).
Also check on conflicting software...it has been reported that the software package NTI Shadow&Ninja can cause a conflict; removing them and reinstalling the BB desktop software allows it to install correctly.
Apologies in advance if this is redundant -- there's no way to be sure if you've already seen and tried these. Also apologies if any are not presently available...RIM takes them up and down at will as they revise things.
Hopefully something there is helpful!
