Battery overheating

I was just sitting with my phone on my lap when all of a sudden my leg started getting VERY hot. I picked up my phone & it was red hot. I turned it off & removed the battery. I am now waiting for the battery to cool down. My phone was NOT on charge at the time. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this?

Re: Battery overheating

too many background apps working furiously in the background.

Watch it and see what happens. Take the battery out... does there appear any slight bulge in the battery sides... try laying it on a flat table.. does the battery easily spin on the table, indicating a bulge?

Re: Battery overheating

Just to say that when I put the battery back in my phone & turned it on, there was no power left in the battery

Re: Battery overheating

Yep, it was extremely drained.

Do this >> Leave the device to charge for an hour or so, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).

It is always helpful to receive help, to include your exact BlackBerry device model # and carrier name, so that when you have a question, that information won't need to be asked up front. Also, stating your device Operating System version is normally another common question, found on your BlackBerry at Options > Device > About, third line down, looks like "v6.x.x.xxx"

ALSO: You have your mobile phone number listed as your "My Mobile Provider" or carrier. Putting your phone number out on the internet on these public forums for the world to see, is not wise. To change that, at the top of this page click on My Settings > Personal Profile > Personal Information, and in the entry block for "Carrier" type the name of your mobile provider.
