Black Berry Bold 9700 Security Password Issue

Can you please help us with an issue in Blackberry 9700? The device has problem if you activate the security password, the devices does not accept the password until 5 or 6 attempts and then prompts you to type ‘blackberry’ to continue. Please note format and reinstall is not an option since the restored data does not work.

Awaiting a quick sloution. Thanks in advace

Simply put, you MUST get the password correct. Ten wrong tries and your device will wipe itself of ALL data, preferences, contacts, messages, calendar, etc.

 

There's not a way around it. A password protected device is impenetrable until you enter the correct password.

 

If you think the password contained numerals be careful that it really does.

 

For instance, a password of 1234 could really be 1wrs if the ALT key was only depressed for the first character.

But the password which i am entering is the correct one and then also this problem is persisting. The no. of attempts are also 5-6 time and not 10 times. Even if i enter the correct password is prompts to enter 5-6 times and then asks to enter blackbrry to continue thats all. What may be the cause of this is it any bug in the OS or is it that the password is truly a wrong one entered.

It is quite simple. The password you assigned when you created it is not the password you are now typing. The number of attempts can vary -- the OS allows you to set that in the configuration screens...10 is the default, you must have changed it to 5 or 6. Regardless, as JSanders said, you must type the correct password or your BB will be wiped clean of all of your personal data. There is no way to avoid it. Check very carefully that the characters on screen are what you think they are. If you had Alt, caps, or num lock when you assigned the password, then you must have that same key modifier active now. There is no way for us to tell you what your password is...only your BB knows what it is. There is no "back door". None.

I am having this exact same issue.  I went to back up my Blackberry for the first time on my computer, it prompted me for my password which I entered on the computer. Then it said to enter blackberry. I am at try #7 and I just can't lose my info, my phone was ok until I hooked it up to my computer and now the password is not working!  Please help I have so much info that I can't afford to lose!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

 

First -- untether and enter your password on the BB itself...that will reset the counter back to zero and give you time to figure it out. Most typically, what you are typing on the BB keyboard is not what you think it is -- either alt, caps, or num is active at some point while you are typing on the BB keyboard, but you just don't know that it is. When you enter your password on the BB keyboard, watch closely the screen and see if it momentarily shows you the actual character you are typing...you might be surprised at what you discover...and you must use that same sequence of keys on your PC keyboard when you tether.

disconnect your Blackberry from the PC

 

enter your password as you normally would.

 

It should unlock.

 

If not, you too have confused your password.

 

PAY CLOSE attention to using numerals and capitol letters in your password.

 

Remember, using a password like 1234 could actually be something like 1ers if you ONLY held the ALT key down on the first character.

Thank you so much!  My password (so I could remember) was a number but it wasn't it was letters.  That was very scary!
