Black Icon Next To Messages won't go away

I have a black icon that I think indicates I have a software download or update.  I updated an application and the indicator won't go away.

 

Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

 

Is it a black circle with a green (I think) arrow aiming at roughly  225 degrees? If so, then that's an AppWorld update indicator...one of your Apps from appWorld has an update available. Two steps to clear it:

 

1) Go to MyWorld and check all of your apps for updates...install all updates.

 

2) Go through your Messages (you may have to dig in folders) for a message(s) from AppWorld...delete them to remove the update icon.

I updated my application but the icon will not go away.

 

Any other suggestions?

Both suggestions did not work.

 

I actually delelted the application that started the entire issue off (Visible Vote).   I thought by "re booting" after that I would solve the problem.

 

No dice.

 

I searched all my message folders for:

 

"App"

"AppWord"

 

An got no hits.

 

Anything else?

I know that others have reported that the icon would never go away until they found and deleted the message. But, I myself have never had this icon, so I can't attest to how it works. But I do know that others have reported finding the message somewhere in their Messages. Be sure you are looking in the true Messages app -- not the icon for a particular email account. Be sure to View Folders and go through them all. Be sure to unhide some things to see if it appears. Again, sorry that I can't give you specific instruction since I haven't had to do this myself...but I do know that others report somehow finding the message in Messages - and deleting it removed the icon.
