BlackBerry 9900 not sending BBM to Z10 and Q10

Most of my coworkers are using BB Q10 or BB Z10 and I have BB bold 9900 but I can't send them BBM I can receive their BBM. Please help!

As you're able to recieve BBM messages from those BB10 devices , what happens when you send a BBM to any of those device ,do you recieve a Red X  or a Check Mark before the message you send but it never delivers or something else ?

Hello Elit I, when I send BBM to any of those devices I receive a Red X.

Regarding your issue there is already a Knowledge Base article related to this error :

 

KB34245 : A check mark and then a red X is displayed when a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry Device Software 5.0 or BlackBerry 6 to 7 sends a message to a BlackBerry 10 smartphone via BlackBerry Messenger 7.0.1.23

 

In my view # Workaround seems to be a little harsh .  So, I prefer you should first  try reinstalling BlackBerry Messenger application and see if it helps in resolving your current issue. 

 

To do that from your Homescreen Go to Options > Device > Application Management > locate and delete BlackBerry Messenger from that list .

 

KB10040  :How to view or remove installed application on a blackberry smartphone

 

Once deleted perform a battery pull restart by removing the battery while your device is Powered On , wait for a min. then reinsert it back .

 

Finally after reboot use your BlackBerry browser and browse to www.blackberry.com/bbmdownload and download the most recent version available . After Installing reboot your device once again , login with your BlackBerry ID then check if you're able to send BBM to  any of those devices.

 

Please try it and let us know of your progress.

we have similar problem. just got myself new q10 and my friend has 9900, bbm is not working. i can send him, he receives, but he cant send me back (there is no red x or anything, p.s when i send him bbm it only shows blue D, as delivered, not read!).

So what we have tried already is - deleting and re-adding, didnt work! and when i deleted and tried to re-add, i lost his contact completely! now i cant even see him in my list! WTF is going on with this bbm now? it has been always very reliable and simple to use and now that? Deleting bbm for my friend is also not an option, since he has few hundred contacts and re-adding everyone will be sucha  head-ache...is this really the only option?? pls help!

Hi there!  I have been having the same issue.  I have uninstalled bbm, rebooted & tried to reinstall bbm but it won't reinstall.  I have tried sending a link by email, app world, scanning barcode.  I just get a blank screen with BlackBerry Messenger at the top & it won't do anything. HELP!!

 

Never mind - just installed updated software & that helped.

The problem may not be with your BB10 device  but on your friend BlackBerry 9900, some user reported this issue . Deleting and readding that contact will not help . So can you advise your friend who is using 9900 to delete and reinstall BlackBerry messenger application on hios device ?

He can do and it won't harm at all, if your friend is having BBM 7 or higher then all of his BBM contacts  are stored with his BlackBerry ID . After reinstalling BBM when your friend login with the same BlackBerry ID as before then all of his contacts will be restored back. but if he is having any previous persion then first do a local backup , you can backup in your Media card, refer to this KB for further  help
