I realise this is a very old thread but I cannot find any others with a solution to this problem. I have tried for hours to get my Curve 8520 to connect to my Mac with SL 10.6. The BB says 'connecting to Desktop' and the computer says BlackBerry® Desktop Software failed to connect to your BlackBerry® device. It all works OK on my netbook with Win7.
I have installed/uninstalled BB DM so many times I'm getting giddy..... And yes I am using the supplied connection lead. Is there a solution or do users just get a Windows machine?

Sorry for the delay SR.
I have tried all sorts to get it to work but have now admitted defeat and will use the netbook I have with Win7.
I am more interested in using the phone than faffing about with software!
