BlackBerry Protect Issues

Hi, just received the 9860 as a replacement for my 9800 from o2 as they couldn't fix my blackberry.
When I tried to set up BlackBerry Protect again, it says "your wireless service plan does not support blackberry protect.". Yet I have had it on other blackberry's with the same contract.
I rang o2 and they said that the 9860 is not supported, but I don't believe that otherwise it would not have been installed on the phone.
Also, I'm not on blackberry enterprise.

Please help!
Thanks.

Re: BlackBerry Protect Issues

O2 is silly, BlackBerry Protect is certainly supported on the 9860.

On your 9860, go to Options > Device > BlackBerryID. Do you have your BlackBerryID setup there? If so, good, if not please set it up and try Protect again.

If it still won't work,

  • go to Options > Device > Applications and delete Protect.
  • Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
  • Return to AppWorld and download Protect again and attempt the setup.

Re: BlackBerry Protect Issues

Hi,
I deleted and then reinstalled from app world and it was a link to download it from the blackberry website, when I go to download, it says: 907 Invalid COD
HTTP Error 404: Not Found.

What do I do now?
Thanks

Re: BlackBerry Protect Issues

Try that again.

If the 404 and 907 errors persist, please post back.

Re: BlackBerry Protect Issues

I've solved the can't download issue, connect to desktop software and delete the blackberry protect app from the aplications page and try again.
Regards to my issue, I'm going to ring o2 again later on today.

Re: BlackBerry Protect Issues

I've fixed it!

After speaking to O2 again on the phone, it would appear that my refurb phone was once connected to BES, and when they refurb phones, they must just wipe it to delete the data and not fully wipe the phone.

Ended up following this knowledge base and doing a complete wipe of the phone.

After that, BlackBerry protect was still playing up, so click on the blackberry key and restart BlackBerry Protect and then battery pull the phone, that should fix it.

Thanks to all those that helped Smiley Happy
