BlackBerry SIM Chip Availability In China

When I purchased my BlackBerry 8310 from AT&T in the US this month, I was told that I could purchase a SIM chip from China Mobile and be able to use the China Mobile service while I'm in China.

Unfortunately, now that I'm in China, China Mobile personnel tell me that a SIM card is not available for personal use.

It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could let me know where I might be able to obtain a BlackBerry 8310 SIM card that I could use with a China phone company.

I will be in Shanghai for the next 3 months and it will be a major struggle if I can't use my BlackBerry.

Thanks for your assistance.

Re: BlackBerry SIM Chip Availability In China

Some carriers (like China Mobile) do not allow personal BlackBerry Data accounts, but only corporate BES accounts.

But you still should be able to get a GSM SIM card for the device, as long as the BB is unlocked for use on other carriers.
