Re: BlackBerry storm sucks

Tech Department for my Carrier advised me that SIM Card is not needed unless you go out of the Country...Overseas (Canada not included).  Just a little tidbit of information

Hi there!

Thank you for that information. But, to clarify for others...it is 100% certain that the SIM is not needed on a VZW BB while it is running on the VZW network. I can personally attest to this fact -- my SIM has been extracted from my Storm for perhaps as long as 6 months...maybe even longer.

We are relatively sure that other CDMA carriers also are the same, but I can't recall any specific evidence of such.

We also know that GSM carriers indeed require the SIM to be installed.

And we also know that, in order to roam onto GSM carriers, a BB that is homed to a CDMA carrier (yet capable of GSM signal) will likewise need the SIM installed.

Cheers!
