I rebooted my BlackBerry Curve 8520 yesterday and its now stuck reloading. I pulled the battery out and tried again and it gets stuck loading about 2/3 of the way through the bar. I've connected it to the computer to try and update the software through Desktop Manager but after clicking on update the "checking for BlackBerry Device Software Updates Please Wait" message is there permanently and nothing appears to be happening. I tried updating the software through the website but the same problem is happening - it seems to be stuck checking for updates. So at the moment my BlackBerry is out of action. Is there a way out of this?

Oh I did update the software a few weeks ago through Desktop Manager if that helps - I don't know what system i'm currently using though.

Try reloading the OS by using the loader.exe program.
On your computer navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader and run the loader.exe file. If the device still hangs try with the battery out and running the loader.exe file, then when it gets to the steps to connect the device put in the battery and hit NEXT when it shows the device's PIN number

I've run the loader and it recognises the device and I've clicked next to connect and the message has been "Connecting to the device (JVM)..." for almost 2 hours now so I doubt its going to work.

Was that also starting with the battery out?

Starting with the battery out and then putting it in after cicking connect it goes to the Device Application Selection screen and where the list of applications should be the message is "the BlackBerry Desktop Software does not have BlackBerry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator."

Strange. If you go into Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features does the Device Software show as being installed?

hi, i had the same problem with mine and the following worked for me
By hitting ALT+RIGHT SHIFT+DEL your blackberry will reset itself. It will go black for about 2 to 4 seconds then you will see the famous blackberry hourglass. Be patient and in about 2 to 5 minutes your blackberry will reset.
ALT+RIGHT SHIFT+DEL can be used for continuous hourglass issues, JVM Error 200 "White Screen" to name a few.
