Blackberrry 9860 - Hangs when as it repairs External Media chip

My phone 9860 has suddenly decided to go bonkers. Suddenly, it goes dead. The screen does not light up as i press the buttons. So i take out the battery and reboot.

Now, after rebooting it does not pick up my preset wallpaper. Then, it prompts " Built-in media issue" and gives me an option to 'Repair". As I click repair, it hangs!

Now I have started the phone after removing the external media. Its running fine. But' I can't get my precious photos and music/videos which are on that media.

What to do?

Hello,

On a computer with a proper Media Card adapter, use that to see if your files are still on your media card and can therefrom be retrieved.

Good luck and let us know!

Media card is repaired. But now its saying Built-in media error and asks for 'Repair'. When I click on "Repair", the process does not end and the screen "Repairing, pls wait ... " stays on.

And nothing about that has anything to do with what I recommended you try. I recommended you use a PC to try and retrieve your data, not your BB. I fear that with all you have done you may already have wiped out your desired data...hence, of course, the reason for a good backup strategy.

Let's deal with one piece of this at a time...first retrieving your data (which I thought was your priority). After that, we can deal with attempting to determine if your device or your media card is the root cause of your issues.

Good luck and let us know!

I already  have the files backed up on my mac using BB Desktop. So all data is safe.

But, now I cannot repair the 'Built-in media".

Then try a different media card.

You cannot...unlike the media card, it is not physically user accessible.

Again, you cannot, for it is not user accessible. You need in-person profession technical assistance now. If you remain in warranty, seek support under those terms. If you have no warranty, seek a local (to you) shop with a qualified BB hardware technician and obtain a proper evaluation and estimate.

Good luck!
