Blackberry 8520 does not start up

  I have just bought a Blackberry 8520.

It has been working fine till today suddenly a white screen came on with a small clock icon in the centre.

The phone does not switch on. I have tired taking the batter off, sim and the memory card but nothing helps.

If anyone know how to rectify this problem I would really apprecaite it.

P.S I use MAC

Re: Blackberry 8520 does not start up

You'll need to get access to a PC.

If your BlackBerry stays powered off with a black screen, follow the instructions below. The only indication of life might be the blinking red LED light in the top corner. Nothing seems to wake it up and Desktop Manager doesn't recognize any device is connected.

1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):

"c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm

3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.

NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
Just select the appropriate carrier and network type, select your Blackberry model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.

JSanders i watched your notices about how to reload all the applications, but my problem is a bit different and maybe you are able to tell me whats wrong with my cell.

I have started with the same problem on my Blackberry 8520. Just does not start and shows only repetitive booting.

Have you got a solution in hand.

Im have the same problem, i follow the instructions to download the boot OS, 8520 Rogers GSM Canada but it asks me to fill out a form and provide my name and address. I fill it out accurately and it keep say to check my information and never lets me down load the OS. Is it looking for particular users? btw that command line for vista is:

Okay....so what happens when there is nothing listed in the drop-down menu in Step 4?

I have spent more time complaining about this phone than actually getting to use it.  My phone is completely gone.  I should have my old cheap, 10-dollar "GoPhone" up and running by tomorrow morning so if you need to get a hold of me please call as I won't be able to receive or send email, messages, or anything else that I was used to doing on a daily basis.
