Blackberry 8520 email set up

Can anyone help??? I have an 8520 on which I can receive emails but cannot reply to or compose new mails, every time I try I get the message 'No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft'

I have already replaced the phone once, have tried o2 (myservice provider) and talktalk (my broadband provider) both of whom have gone through the variou setups to no avail !!!

What are we doing wrong, someone suggested that I needed to set up a different path for my outgoing mails but I can find no way of doing that on my Blackberry. Help pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese.

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

On your 8520, please look at Options > Advanced > Default Services.

Set your default email account there. You should choose from the drop down box.

Do the same for your calendar.

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

Hi J,

when I go into Advanced Options>Default Services the only thing showing in there is:- Calendar (CICAL): and it had automatically defaulted with an o2 email address, I've tried changing this to my talktalk one but am still getting the same error.

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...

1)
• Go to mobile.blackberry.com OR to www.blackberry.com/integrate
• Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
• Choose the appropriate email set up options.

If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.

If not, follow these additional instructions:

2) Register HRT: (OS5) Home Screen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scroll to any line entry and > press the Menu key > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced > Host Routing Table, etc.

3) Resend Service Books: Article ID: KB02830 How to send the service books for a BlackBerry Internet Service account. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02830

4) Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

5) Now, return to the 1) mobile.blackberry.com email setup as mentioned above and follow that.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

Hi J

I tried option '1' and it made no difference.

So tried option 2-5 and although I get messages/emails to say whatever has been sucessful it makes no difference and I still can't send/reply to emails.

However, I can send an MMS to an email address ??? although I believe this goes out automatically through o2 and not via talktalk the problem seems to lie here.

When I look at my service books I have active my email address at talktalk (CICAL) but there is also another book at the bottom of the list which has my email at talktalk (CMIME) which is showing as disallowed, I've tried downloading the service book, which says it ahs been sucessful but it won't let me change the disallowed status could this be something to do with it???

Sorry to go on but I'm at my wits end!!!!!!

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

CICAL is your calendar service book.

CIMIME is your email service book. Delete that one from your service books and resend... again.

THEN reboot again.

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

Hi J,

It's me again deleted the disallowed service books as you recommended and resent/rebooted but they've come back as disallowed again???

My service provider is o2 but my internet provider is talktalk could this be where the problem lies???

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

How can you have one service provider and another internet provider?

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

My Blackberry is on o2 pay as you go and my broadband is with Tiscalli/talktalk, so my email is set up on talktalk.

Re: Blackberry 8520 email set up

Yea I don't understand that.

Your internet connection will come through whoever SIM card is in the device.

On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status.
What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?
