I have an 8820 on the T-Mobile network and I'm seeing information all over the web about an OS 4.5 and another that is 4.6.
I currently have 126.96.36.199
What is the most updated OS for my phone and can someone please give me a step by step on how to update it?
Just to offer more info, my desk top manager is version: 188.8.131.52 (and there is no auto update feature)
thanks in advance.

RIM are releasing new handsets with updated Operatin Systems on them.
This usually means they release updates to the current handsets as well.
4.5 should be available for your 8820 but I will need to be tested by your carrier (T-Mobile) and accepted into support by them.
They will have to go through the same process should they wish to release 4.6.
I would loook at the carriers web site here for more info http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/

That was awesome, thank you so much. I just bookmarked that page.
Does that mean I ignore the updates I see on the web and wait for Tmobile to update their OS? Or can I jump ship and download OS's from other places.

You can jump ship, but don't expect any support from the vendor on an unreleased (in their eyes) OS.
Unless you have pressing need I suggest you wait for the "official release"
If you need more information, please ask!
If not, please resolve the post using the options by the kudos’ star.
