Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

The solution:
I tried everything advised: resetting by taking the battery out, going to mobile.blackberry .com (no communication option on menu)), going to blackberry.com/integrate (error message) - nothing worked.
In desperation I re-installed OS5 and bingo there was a functioning email wizard.
If you are desperate to have OS6 you can always reinstall it after you have set up the e-mail account.

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

thanks.

reinstalling everything from scratch is a fairly radical solution...

but i found an even more radical one: switch to iphone and throw the old blackberry in the dump!

so thanks for all your help, i won't need it anymore.

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

Hi - have tried all the above - including while connected to a wi-fi router. I did also turn the 'mobile network' off as well.

I am using a Torch 9800.

OS is updated, on desktop as well. Am using OS 6.0 bundle  2921.

Any other suggestions - other than switching to iphone?

cheers

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

Hi

It seems to be the same issue everyone else here having -

I had two email accounts active on my Torch 9800. I cant remember the circumstances that caused the issue, but now only one is active. Plus I need to add another.

After pressing "Setup", Email Accounts", it shows:

"Checking for updates...", then

"Connecting to email settings...", then

I have tried a hard reboot.

I tried going to mobile.blackberry .com (no communication option on menu), going to blackberry.com/integrate - I also get "Unknown error, please try again"

I have tried while connected to the wireless network and mobile network turned off. Also, while trying to access email setup in this mode, it wont do anything except ask to turn the mobile network on.

thanks

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

I replied - but it came back with a 'mis-match'. Will try and resend all info again.

I became frustrated and did a security wipe of my Blackberry. After finally re-establishing network connections etc again and after pressing "Setup", Email Accounts", it automatically directs me to the local network carrier's page to set up the email accounts.

I have failed after numerous attempts to set up my two work accounts, but I have been able to set up Gmail - not an important one really.

I click on 'add an email account', fill in email address and password, bit then normally just cycles back to the original page.

Am assuming this is a local issue now.

Even more frustrated!

Re: Blackberry Bold 9700 Email setup problem

seanlues, are you connected to WiFi while trying this?

Or, only connected to your mobile provider signal?

On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status.
What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?
