Blackberry Bold 9790 Constantly Rebooting

Hi i have a bold 9790. For some reason it constantly restarts, atleast 25 times a day. I replaced my battery, resetted ,my phone, updated me software and none of that worked. I dont use a media card anymore since it has built in memory already and because it got damaged Smiley Tongue. I never dropped my phone and it has never gotten wet. Is there something i need to do to make it stop rebooting? Or is it something i need to repair? Let me know asap please and thanks.

Re: Blackberry Bold 9790 Constantly Rebooting

Hello,

These articles might be useful:

You may also want to try this tedious procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:

  1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Blackberry Bold 9790 Constantly Rebooting

My blackberry isint nuked i know that for sure because sometimes it will turn on and like 10 minutes later it will keep restarting,it will even restart during a restart. What is the problem? Should i update my software to 7.1? or downgrade to os 6?

Re: Blackberry Bold 9790 Constantly Rebooting

At an internet distance, I cannot know anything 100%. The steps and methods I gave you are intended to root out the catastrophic level of constant rebooting. Since you've now provided new information (that it can run for 10 minutes), you may not yet need to (yet) try those.

I now recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

You should also take a good backup while your BB is able to run fine:

If Safe Mode fails, then you may still be left with the multi-step tedious process I gave you.
