Blackberry Bold 9900 - buttons not working...at all.

Hi thanks for reading.

 

I have a Bold 9900, about a year and a half old, today, the "keys, shortcut buttons, etc." stopped working. 

I have to pull the battery to see the home screen...but once it goes black, it won't come back "on".

I can use the touch screen, but once in an app, SMS, email, Facebook, etc. it won't let me out of the app without pulling the battery.

Wireless rep thinks it's a "software issue" so I did a back up via my computer and uploaded the newest version of the software.  Same issue....

Is there a way to fix this or will I have to break down and upgrade my BlackBerry??  Any help would be appreciated...Smiley Happy

If you've reloaded the OS to no avail, there's a good chance it's a hardware issue and not a software one.  Seeing all the buttons stop working at once leads me to believe it's related to software but usually an OS reload will correct such issues.  It might be time to bite the bullet and upgrade but remember when you do, the new Z30 is going to be released very soon.

Arrgh, I heard lol...but I don't have a home phone, so this is necessary to replace sooner than later.

New pricing for Z10 is 19.99 with the same data plan I already have, so for $20, I could still upgrade to the Z30 when it comes out!  Smiley Wink

Thanks for the input, I hoped it was software related, too but upgrading didn't correct, so I guess I'm out of luck.

That said, we have a laptop at work looping product information, it stopped playing about the same time my Bold stopped working...the laptop wasn't plugged in but I wondered if it was a surge of some kind as the BlackBerry was sitting on the table right beside it...that would make me think hardware not software aside from getting it looked at, now way to really tell.

Hi, just wanted to thank you again...I used the BBSAK and wiped my phone (on the advice of a techy guy at the Wireless kiosk where I work...) everything wiped, loaded and updated fine, but still nothing after the screen goes dark...looks like a new Z10 is on the horizon...turns out it's a free update and I should have it Tuesday afternoon. Maybe I'll get some work done tomorrow. lol
