My Bold 9900 has stopped working completely. There was no damange to the phone or battery, but It has been frozen since the past few days. I have tried to reboot the phone several times but the problem still persists. Do I have to buy a new battery, or is there any other alternative to fix the issue?

Is it completely dead or Device On but screen freezes. If Device ON but screen freezes then I would suggest you to perform a simple reboot by Battery pull and re-insert it after a min.
If it is completely dead, then pull out battery and plug device with charger ( ensure charger is of working condition) wait for 10 to 15 mins, you will get a NO battery sign, once you will No battery sign then insert Battery without un-plugging charger and wait for another 15 to 30 mins. This process may help you to boot up your device.
