Blackberry Bold 9930 Severe Issue.

I will try and explain this as best I can.  I was using my work phone last Friday 2-15 during the evening after using it all day like normal.  In the middle of a conversation, the speaker phone just turned on.  I pulled the phone away from my ear to shut it off and EVERY factory application was turning on and off, asking for permission to do this and do that and I had NO CONTROL over anything.  EVERY time I tried to close the OEM Application it would just flash to a new one.  I then tried to just shut it off and I couldnt do that either.  I finally pulled the battery, waited like 20 minutes and then put it back in and now the phone only shows a black screen, has no response to anything I do, and wont do ANYTHING.  I travel and this phone is crucial for email and it also has my RSN token program on it to access my companies Intranet.  Please help as Verizon is not able to.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

First, I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.

 

If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

 

But, if the behavior continues, you may need to consider a full device WIPE, reload, etc. If you are on BES (you might be), you should work with your IT support folks.
