Blackberry Bold... having trouble opening Microsoft Word attachment. Any thoughts?

I have a Microsoft Word attachment that I can't open on my Blackberry Bold.  This document comes from my home PC - Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 - that has been saved in Word 97-2003 format.  No problem opening it on home my PC or opening it from my office PC (runs Windows XP).  I even created and save several simple "Test" files on home PC and still no luck opening on Bold but opened properly on home and work PCs. Even more bizarre is that I have no problem opening Excel files from home PC that is saved in Excel 97 - 2003 format.

Just got Bold yesterday and traded in my company-provided Blackberry and to be clear had never had problems with the company-provided Blackberry in opening documents that were from my home PC.

Any thoughts?  Thanks.
