Re: Blackberry Bold roller ball

I had the same problem with the trackball on my Blackberry Pearl. Your suggestion to press down firmly and roll it in the direction it would NOT move WORKED! Thank you!

Re: Blackberry Bold roller ball

Try resetting the device taking out the battery for 30 seconds and installing it again.

Sometimes you need to try press down firmly few times.

Re: Blackberry Bold roller ball "Solution"

Just to add to this for other people that I had a similar problem to this not that long ago and it kept happening.

I was about ready to throw my Bold out of a window into the path of a passing truck when I tried something I found on one of the many forums about blackberry trackballs.

Get a cotton bud and some alcohol cleaner (like you put on your hands in a hospital - make sure this is not a gel though)

Cover the cotton bud with a very small amount of the alcohol, lightly press the trackball down with the cotton bud and roll it around a few times.

Repeat this 3 or 4 times making sure you don't soak the trackball with the alcohol and then, using the dry end of the bud, move the trackball in every direction and press it in a few times while doing so.

Leave it 30 seconds and then try the trackball again.

I had tried everything else I could but this was the only thing that worked. I now clean the trackball every couple of weeks and I haven't had a problem since.
