Re: Blackberry Desktop Manager hangs at "Preparing Sync Preview"

I did the same thing today, and then spent 3-4 hours with restore points, with uninstall/reinstall, with rebooting machine(s). Have Windows 7 64 bit. Nothing fixes it. Cannot find a phone # on RIM website to get help.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM... This is exactly why RIM is losing customers, they issue these hack versions without trying out Beta versions and people blow up when their product doesn't work. Frustrating!! How is RIM a better business tool than iphone again?? Arghhh I should've bought an iphone instead of this phone, regrets regrets regrets!

Re: Blackberry Desktop Manager hangs at "Preparing Sync Preview"

This is a supposed solution I found on Crackberry.com, haven't tried it yet:

"Solved

Seems to be an issue with converting intellisync data over to whatever RIM is using now.

Back up your device data.
Delete your device data
Perform a one way sync from Outlook to the blackberry device.

After that, two way sync should work.

I no longer get the "preparing sync preview" dialog box."

Let me know if it works, I'll try it out in a bit.

Re: Blackberry Desktop Manager hangs at "Preparing Sync Preview"

First part worked, there was no hang when there is a one-way sync. But the software still hung at the same place when i did a two-way sync after.

Re: Blackberry Desktop Manager hangs at "Preparing Sync Preview"

I Found a solution

After the Uddate caused the final step to hang during the Organiser Sync "Preparing sync preview" , I Removed Desktop manager using add/remove programs & rebooted my PC

Then I downloaded the install file from Blackberry's web site, then I configured the sync to replace data on the handheld = "One Way to your device only"(outlook is my primary source for Contacts, Calendar, Tasks & memos & that data is complete)

1 way sync worked well.

Then I changed the data sync settings back to Two way between your device and your computer.

It has worked very well ever since

Re: Blackberry Desktop Manager hangs at "Preparing Sync Preview"

Don't get too excited - I did all that yesterday, and had the same outcome yesterday, but the problem has reappeared again today, and has been sitting on "preparing sync preview" since early thismorning - it's now mid-afternoon here.  Good luck!
