I have a Bold 9780 and Blackberry Desktop Software 7, and suddenly the desktop application juts hangs and freezes when I try to launch it. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling, going to earlier DM versions, registrry cleans, the lot, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas? At present I cannot synch my BB, which is very frustrating.

Interestingly, when I do a complete uninstall and clearn reinstall, the Desktop Software synchs the first time but freezes in all subsequent attempts to launch the application (irrespective of whether the BB is connected or not). So something in the first synch seems to be corrupting the software.
Can anyone help please?

You seem perhaps to already have tried at least some of what is discussed in this thread, but I cannot tell if you've truly tried it all...therefore, I suggest this thread:
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Otherwise, it really sounds like you have some major conflict or issues with your Windows OS itself. While quite rare, it's not unheard of needing to completely reinstall Windows so as to get things working well. But, before you resort to that, you should do all of the normal Windows stuff -- Windows updates, check all of your apps for updates, run registry cleansers, run full virus scans, run malware detectors, etc. etc. etc. This very much sounds like a PC/Windows problem more than a Desktop Software problem.

I have tried all the above and no joy.
This is the final straw for me with Blackberry. My device is due an upgrade soon and I will switch to another smartphone. RIM have really lost the plot.

It seems a lot of people are blaming Blackberry - because after numerous re-installs - many (including me) are having no success getting passed this screen with the white box and the application that remains unresponsive. I will be going to my carrier and swapping out my phone tomorrow as well. This is ridiculous!
