Blackberry Desktop Software has stopped working.

I had to quit in the middle of a sync.  Now the BDS terminates as soon as my devise is attached with a USB.  I can't get far enough along in the process to restore from a backup.   Ideas? 

 

Do I have to wipe my phone completely? (battery in and out is ineffective)

If your BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 smartphone is unable to connect with the BlackBerry® Desktop Software, you may want to try the steps in one of the following KB articles to force a detection and reload the device software.
