Blackberry Messenger Support

The problem started when my Blackberry Messenger would freeze my entire phone, sometimes for up to 30 mins, when i tried to open an existing conversation on it. Seeing as it didn't get better after some time, I decided to delete the application from my phone and then try to reinstall it. I don't know how to reinstall it. It's insanely hard to find out how, so now I'm here. I have been to a Blackberry site (http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices/features/im/blackberry_messenger.jsp) where you are apparently able to download Blackberry Messenger, but that hasn't worked either. The site tells me to go their from my phone, so I do, and then there's a big gray box that says 'Download', when I click it, it says 'Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Blackberry Messenger for Software Versions 4.0 and 4.1'. I read somewhere that I need to use the Blackberry Desktop Manager to reinstall it, I opened that program but didn't find anything involving reinstalling the Messenger on my phone. I'm getting a little bit annoyed with this. Is there a site I can go to to download an older version? How do I reinstall it? How? Its an 8220 Blackberry Flip if that matters. I'd appreciate some help. Thanks.

Re: Blackberry Messenger Support

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

Do you have your 8200 OS loaded to your PC? You will need to do so first. Find it at your carrier website. You are looking for the one that matches your device Options > About, third line down beginning with 4.xxxx

THEN, open Desktop Manager > Applicaiton Loader. Look in the list for BlackBerry Messenger, and check the box to load it.

Follow the prompts to complete.

Do you have an 8220 or 8230?

Here are the latest OS files for those devices...

Hi!

By clicking on the icon it placed on your PC desktop.

Or, did you mean how do you obtain the desktop software so that you can install it onto your PC? If so, that's here:

Hope that helps!
