Blackberry Protect support

I cannot find any support for Protect.

I lost my blackberry and when I restored from Protect , I restored all sorts of data - but NOT my telephone book. Email addresses,,emails, texts, yes - but no phone numbers.

What did I do wrong? How can I find these numbers?

And how to ensure this doesn't happen again?

Re: Blackberry Protect support

You mean it did not restore your "Address Book"?

There is no "telephone book" separate from the Address Book.

So, it did restore your Address Book if you say you got your email addresses?

But now the phone numbers are missing from within those contacts in your Address Book?

Re: Blackberry Protect support

Thanks a lot for offering to help.

Yes, that's correct.

Even the email addresses are partial - only form one or two of my email accounts, not from all. And no phone numbers.

Strange.

Re: Blackberry Protect support

Ok, help me here, when you say "only from one or two of my email accounts"?

Re: Blackberry Protect support

Sorry.

I had five email accounts. Addresses from one or two were restored (I haven't checked the detail).

Question - could it be something to do with this thing called synchronisation that I don't understand?

BTW,

I now have another problem!

I successfully restored BlackBerry protect here in the UK, and it continued to function well when I swapped to a Mongolian provider while I was out there, but now that I am back in the UK and have put my UK Sim card in, I keep getting an error message when I try to put in my BlackBerry ID and password. The error message says something like "BlackBerry ID service not available". I don't suppose you'd have any helpful suggestions about this thing as well?

Thank you so much

Re: Blackberry Protect support

Dear Joey

Can you help me at all?

My British BlackBerry, which had been registered with BlackBerry protect, was functioning well in Mongolia here on a local SIMcard/BlackBerry service. (where I am on a long business trip). It backed up regularly, through Wi-Fi

Then it was stolen. So I bought another BlackBerry locally.

All I want to do is connect to BlackBerry protect so as to download my data – but it seems to be impossible. Although I can download app world on my computer and transfer it by cable to the BlackBerry, I cannot then download or open BlackBerry protect on the handset. I guess it is something to do with the service not being available technically in Mongolia.

As a workaround, I can connect to BlackBerry with a UK IP address from my computer by using a VPN. However, that doesn't seem to be enough to be able to either download BlackBerry protect onto the handset or to access the data.

Any help would be really gratefully received.

Stephen

Re: Blackberry Protect support

Ugh, sorry to hear about that.

  • Your new BlackBerry from Mongolia, what model #?
  • Does the SIM card in the device have the BlackBerry Data plan on it?
  • On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status. What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service?
