Blackberry Protect

I just bought my BB Bold 9780 and I am unable to download Blackberry Protect. Getting the error mentioned below when the download fails-

907 Invalid COD
HTTP Error 404: Not Found

 

Please advise

From where, exactly, are you attempting to perform this download? From within AppWorld? From a URL direct link? If not AppWorld, please try it from there.

 

Also...do you have a full BB-level data plan on your BB? If not, then BB Protect is a service that is part of that level of data plan, so not having the data plan would preclude access to BB Protect.

I bought the phone in Nigeria though resident in South Africa. I am running the BB protect via the icon on the phone. My BB plan is a full package so I can't still understand.

OK...so you have a 9780 that you obtained from somewhere else, and are attempting to use it on MTN South Africa. OK. First things first...check to be sure that it's unlocked:

If it's not, then it must be before you proceed.

 

Then, since you say you have a full BB package,I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "Registration" or "Activation" message to arrive



2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for one "Activation" message to arrive for each email account you have configured (if any)



3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.


Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you need to talk to talk to MTN South Africa to be sure your services with them are configured properly. If whoever had the BB previously had enabled BIS services on another carrier, then those must be fully shut down and the PIN released from that other BIS system before MTN SA will be able to fully create your account.

 

Also, I've seen some other problems with users on MTN SA that, when they use the OS package from MTN SA, they receive strange errors...shifting to an OS package from a different carrier cured their issues in that case. I don't know if it will help your situation, but you never know.
