Blackberry Storm unlocking infomation please

I have a Blackberry Storm 9500 mark 1 which was on contract with Vodafone ES

The contract is now over and Vodafone agreed to unlock the phone so I could use other SIM card they sent me the unlock code with instructions how to enter it but no matter how I try I am unable to get past stage 11

I would like to know if I have the phone reset to factory defaults will it help

I attach the instructions from Vodaphone ES

Dear Customer :
Thank you for mailing Vodafone . We are sorry for that . Here are simple
steps to unlock your Black berry:
1. Insert ANY Sim Card "Not Vodafone SIM" in the Phone's Sim Card Slot.
2. From the Home Screen, Press the Menu Key (Blackberry Key), and Select
'Manage Connections'.
3. Turn OFF all of the Wireless Connections.
4. Go Back One Step by Pressing the Back Key.
5. Select Options.
6. Select Advanced Options.
7. Select SIM Card.
8. Press the Menu Key Select 'Show Keyboard'.
9. Tilt the phone in Horrizontal Position so that the Keyboard is displayed
in the Landscape Mode.
10. Enter letters M E P D (you will not be able to see the typed info).
11. Enter letters M E P and then the number 2.
12. A Message will say "Enter Network MEP Code".
13. Enter the Code provided by us to you and Press the Enter Key on the
Screen.
14. It will now say 'Code Accepted'.
15. Congratulations! Your phone is now Unlocked. Now your phone can be used
with any GSM Network with Sim Card.
16. Go back to the Home Screen. Press the Menu Button and click on Manage
Connections.
17. Turn all the Connections ON.
18. Click on Mobile Network Options > Network Technology: - Change GLOBAL to
GSM/UMTS | Below that you will see - Network Mode: - Change from | 3G and 2G
| to | 2G |.
In Some Cases, the Phone might need to be Rebooted/Restarted with a Valid
and Active GSM Sim Card placed in the Phone's Sim Card Slot.

Best Regards
Vodafone Customer Care

There is no email support for BlackBerry.

I have tried to help you, have I not?

Your best bet is to contact the company that sold you the unlock code and see assistance.

BlackBerry Technical support is not going to give you help on unlocking the device.

Re: Blackberry Storm unlocking infomation please

Yes you did try to help and I thank you for that

I got the code direct from Vodafone ES as the phone was out of contract and I got a new phone (Curve 9380) with the new contract , Vodafone havent me all instructions to unlock the phone and I have also been to  Vodafone shop but they could not get the screen up that asks for the MEP code so they rand Vodafone and were told that the phone was not mine as I had a Curve 9380

I have repeatedly spoken and emailed them and keep getting the same information and they keep telling me that I should go to a Vodafone shop ,in other words they do not listen to what I keep telling them ,I have been trying to unloch the phone for over 2 months now and do not know what to try next as there must be a fault on the phone ,thats why I was trying to email Blackberry for advice

Can you offer any advice please  woulkd it help if the phone was set to factory default

Re: Blackberry Storm unlocking infomation please

Are you certain the device is not already unlocked?

To determine if your BlackBerry is already "unlocked" or not:
1. On your OS5 BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Sim Card. For an OS6 or OS7 device, go to Options > Device > Advanced > SIM
2. At that screen type MEPD (see note below) on your keyboard. A new menu will pop up.
    * If your BlackBerry has a SureType keyboard (71xx, 81xx, 91xx devices) you will need to double-tap the P, so the actual keys entered become M E P P D.
3. Look for Network in the list.
4. If your device is "unlocked", it should say Disabled or Inactive. If it says Active, it's still locked to that carrier.
