I can't get rid of the blackberry messenger icon on top of my screen, and there's no conversation. I tried taking out the batteries and leave it for awhile..I also tried changing the theme. It didn't work..Someone have any other suggestions?

Any additional news on this error? I, too, am experiencing this. I've tried the following, but to no avail:
1.) Removing the battery, waiting a minute or 5, and reinserting.
2.) Marking all prior messages are read.
3.) Advanced Options > security > reset counters
What started as a slight nuisance is slowly driving me crazy!

I haven't tried the advanced options and security then reset counter or sumthing..
I looked at advanced options but i can't find the security..so anyone can help me with that?

I too have the same problem. Done:
1) the firewall thing
2) marking all my prior messages open
3) the battery pull while the power was on
4) re-installing the blackberry messenger without uninstalling it first.
I seem to get the icon without the asterix, and the blinking light. and this happened after I updated the blackberry messenger to the new one for my Bold 9000 v4.6 blah blah.
I do remember some message about some server error or something like that popping up though.
I'm really at a loss here =S

I am having the same problems. Only when I do the hard reset- battery pull, the icon still there and a "recent Update" pops up in messenger with the red star. I open that and then clear it , red star disappears but not the bloody icon on home page or the flashing red light. Any ideas how to get rid of it???

You may have a different issue, but when I experienced that I found I simply had not checked my voice mail. I believe any message, including text and voice will bring that icon up. Check your voice mail and see if it helps.......also your text messages.
