I am new to the forum,
I have an issue with my mobile internet using my blackberry bold 9900.
I have been using my blackberry as a modem "tethering" to access internet on my laptop,
Although this was working fine it then suddenly stopped working.
When I connected my device I now have a message stating "failure to connect" the serial port is not open"
I read on the blackberry support page that my serial " virtual" ports may have become corrupted or simple are not working and I need to follow these steps : un-installed the virtual ports, reboot my PC, then un - install blackberry desktop software. And re install again.
I tried this yesterday and it worked,
I then went to access internet today and the connection failed due to the same reason.
I followed the instructions once again but to no avail. This time it wouldn't work.
So I am here asking if someone from the blackberry community can kindly help.

Thank you for your advice.
I did state in my original post that I followed these instructions and I was still unable to connect.
I contacted by mobile service provider who informed me everything from their side was working as it should,
I'm still able to view internet on my handset.
In any case, after more attempts I was finally able to use my blackberry once again to connect with my Pc.
I don't know for how long this will last but at the moment its working.
I 'm wondering why the modem & virtual ports are prone to becoming corrupted quite frequently. would this be a hardware issue? on behalf of the people who also experience this problem, maybe someone could enlighten us why this issue is happening,
