Blackberry protect backup

Hello,

Every week I backup all my data with the app blackberry protect. A couple of weeks ago I accidentally erase a contact number and i'm trying to recover that number since than. When I try to backup the data for a week that I still have that number I can't select the contact backup option, it sayd "This data are already sincronized with an remote service and can't be restored by blackberry protect". Have someway to backup my contact number? or can i open my backup file on my computer just to see the contact? or something to do?

Thanks,

wboeck

This means exactly what it says...you are configured for OTA sync of your contacts with some compatible service, which means that service is the "master". You must defeat that OTA sync in order to restore...step 1 in this KB should provide adequate guidance:

  • KB04461 Unable to backup or restore some databases to a BlackBerry smartphone using BlackBerry Desktop Software

And this provides guidance about conducting the restore:

  • KB25063 How to use BlackBerry Protect to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone

Note carefully what it says about merging data... And don't forget to re-activate your OTA sync after you have completed your restore.

Also, please note that BB Protect is only one component of a backup best practices...you can find full instructions via the link in my auto-sig on this post.

Good luck!
