Blackberry wifi

I have recently bought a BB 8520 curve.

I wish to use wifi over my blackberry. I have successfully established a wifi connection in between my wifi router and BB but, the wifi icon on my BB is still grey. When I try to access the browser it says "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists please contact your service provider." I only wish to use my home based wifi service on this BB but I am not get access to that. Smiley Sad Expecting a prompt response.

Thanks,

Amit

Re: Blackberry wifi

Hi

Hope this is propmt enough, but bear in mind we are just ordinary users like you and a prompt response depends on who's online and what they know.

Do you have a Data Plan?

Re: Blackberry wifi

Hi,

Thanks for your quick response

This means to use my home wifi, i need to upgrade to a data plan.
This gives me a reason to dislike BB's

(No other phone device i used has ever compelled me to change my tariff or anything to use my home based WiFi.)

Thanks again

Amit

Re: Blackberry wifi

Go into Options, now select Advanced Options. here select Browser. Change from Internet Browser to Hotspot. This should let you surf with WiFi. The Icon will be gray as long as you do not have a data plan, but you should be able to surf.
