Bluetooth not working - 8520

I purchased a BlackBerry 8520 from Phones4U.

After a few weeks the scroll stopped working, completely. So Phones4U sent it off for repairs, the decided to replace my phone with another one.

I'm trying to setup up my to work with my computer so I can send it files, but my computer or any other mobile phone cannot find it. I've sucessfully sent a file from my Blackberry > another phone.

What do I do? It took over three stressfull weeks to get another replacement phone from Phones4U/BlackBerry. I'm sure there is a simple fix? Because i'm able to send files.

I have tried setting the phone to discoverable = Yes, it is still not working.

Re: Bluetooth not working - 8520

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

From your post, I can't tell exactly what steps you are undertaking and what exact results you are seeing. Therefore, see this KB:

  • KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones

Substitute, in the KB, the appropriate instructions for your other device in place of the KB section for the sending device. Do not skip the "Receive Using BT" step on the receiving BB...nothing will transfer if you do.

If it fails, please report back with exact steps and symptoms so that we can hopefully help you better.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Bluetooth not working - 8520

Hi, Just got my BlackBerry yesterday and this is my first time to use this kind of phone. Little bit scary and kinda hard to use, but with the help of BB Manual I'll get used to it. Pls do this: The BlackBerry needs to initiate the transfer, whether sending or receiving. Pair your BlackBerry and your other device. Then go to Media>Pictures (if you want to receive a picture) and press the BlackBerry button. Scroll down to Receive Using Bluetooth. Then send the file from the other device. I just did it in my phone, so I guarantee you that it will work for you as well. I'm using file transfer from my ACER laptop to my BB8520 and it worked. Sometimes you just have to explore the settings of your phone since its not an ordinary phone. Remember blackberry is known for Business Phone, so its kind a completed to use the settings if your not into it.
